About Wearer
R’ Chaim Ozer Chait is a veteran American-born talmid chacham and educator whose career has moved through some very different corners of the Torah world. He learned at Mesivta Tifereth Jerusalem in New York as a close talmid of Rav Moshe Feinstein, received semichah and dayanus from him, and also studied under Rav Joseph B. Soloveitchik. Alongside that, he earned a master’s degree in education, something that fits the larger pattern of his life: serious Torah learning, but also a long-standing interest in broad, effective Torah education.
For many years he taught in New York, including at Yeshivat Ohr Torah, and served as rav of Kehillas Ohev Israel. Public biographies also credit him with work as Judaic advisor to the New York State Department of Education and as chairman of Judaic studies at Rockland Community College. Later he founded Yeshivat Michmas in Israel, returned to the United States to serve for a decade as rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva of Virginia, and then came back to Eretz Yisrael again. It is not the resume of someone who stayed in one lane.
In more recent years he became identified with Migdal HaTorah in Modiin, where he served as rosh yeshiva and is now listed as Rosh HaYeshiva Emeritus. He is also publicly associated with Yeshivat Har HaBayit, which lists him as president and describes his growing involvement in the sugya of aliyah la’Har according to halachah. That background matters here. R’ Chaim Ozer Chait is not simply a rav who wears techeiles as a side detail.
