Rabbi Yisrael Landa (born in 5725 / 1965) is the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Heichal Yitzchok in Jerusalem.
Biography
He was born in 5725 to Rabbi Kalman Landa, who served as a ram in Yeshivas Tchebin, and to Esther (who passed away on 8 Sivan 5776), daughter of Rabbi Avraham Zev Treger.
He studied in Yeshivas Ponevezh and was close to the rosh yeshiva, Rabbi Boruch Dov Povarsky. He was among the founders of Yeshivas Beis Mattisyahu.[1]
In Elul 5757, he began serving as a ram in Yeshivas Mahari”l under Rabbi Chizkiyahu Yosef Schreiber. His appointment was considered groundbreaking in the yeshiva, which at that time was intended only for bnei kibbutz. In the summer of 5761, the yeshiva moved to Moshav Beit Chilkiyah. Rabbi Landa remained in Jerusalem and went on to serve as a rosh chaburah in Yeshivas Mir.
In the summer of 5766, Rabbi Yissachar Meir opened Yeshivas Ner Zerach in Moshav Zeru’ah,[2] and Rabbi Landa was appointed to serve there as a rosh yeshiva. After Rabbi Meir’s passing, he moved to Yeshivas Ateres Yisrael and served there as a ram.
In Elul 5775, he founded Yeshivas Heichal Yitzchok, named after his brother Rabbi Yitzchok Landa, who had served as a ram in Yeshivas Chevron and passed away in 5774, together with Rabbi Daniel Natan Cohen. In the ציבור, the yeshiva is commonly known simply as “Landa.”
On 24 Shevat 5784, he lost his daughter Chagit Wexler.
His educational and learning approach

Rabbi Landa’s method of learning is analytical and structured, with conceptual lomdus, following the approach of his rebbi Rabbi Boruch Weisbecker, known as the method of Yeshivas Beis Mattisyahu,[clarification needed] with an added element from the teachings of Rabbi Chizkiyahu Yosef Schreiber.[1]
Rabbi Landa is among the only roshei yeshiva[3] in the Litvish world who ties a pesil techeiles in his tzitzis. However, he instructs his talmidim to follow the practice of the majority of the ציבור, which does not wear techeiles. Even so, a small number of his talmidim follow his example.
In Adar 5780, when the coronavirus outbreak began in Israel, he was among the first [source needed] to warn in his yeshiva that all safety rules must be observed.[4]

ביוגרפיה
נולד בשנת תשכ”ה, לרבי קלמן לנדא, שכיהן כר”מ בישיבת טשעבין, ולאסתר (נפטרה בח’ סיון התשע”ו), בתו של הרב אברהם זאב טרגר.
למד בישיבת פוניבז’, והיה מקורב לראש הישיבה הרב ברוך דב פוברסקי, היה ממייסדי ישיבת בית מתתיהו[1].
באלול התשנ”ז החל לשמש כר”מ בישיבת מהרי”ל בראשות הרב חזקיהו יוסף שרייבר. מינויו נחשב פורץ דרך בישיבה, שיועדה אז לבני קיבוץ בלבד. בקיץ התשס”א עברה הישיבה למושב בית חלקיה, הרב לנדא נשאר בירושלים ועבר לשמש כראש חבורה בישיבת מיר.
בקיץ התשס”ו פתח רבי יששכר מאיר את ישיבת נר זרח במושב זרועה [2] והרב לנדא מונה לשמש בה כראש ישיבה. עם פטירתו של הרב מאיר, עבר לישיבת עטרת ישראל ושימש בה ר”מ.
באלול תשע”ה ייסד את ישיבת היכל יצחק, על שם אחיו רבי יצחק לנדא שכיהן כר”מ ישיבת חברון (נפטר בתשע”ד), יחד עם הרב דניאל נתן כהן. הישיבה מוכרת בציבור כ’לנדא’.
בכ”ד שבט תשפ”ד שיכל את בתו חגית וקסלר.
דרכו החינוכית והלימודית

שיטת הלימוד של הרב לנדא היא חשבונאית עם לומדות כשיטת רבו הרב ברוך ויסבקר המוכרת כשיטת ישיבת בית מתתיהו[דרושה הבהרה], בתוספת נופך ממשנתו של הרב חזקיהו יוסף שרייבר[1].
הרב לנדא הוא מבין ראשי הישיבה היחידים[3] במגזר הליטאי שקושר פתיל תכלת בציציותיו, אך לתלמידיו מורה לעשות כפי הנהגת רוב הציבור שאינו מטיל תכלת, עם זאת, יש מעט מתלמידיו שנוהגים כך בעקבותיו.
באדר תש”פ, עם התפרצות נגיף הקורונה בישראל, היה מן הראשונים[דרוש מקור] להתריע בישיבתו שיש לשמור על כללי הזהירות[4].
