Rabbi Dovid Aronin is best known for his involvement with Techeiles, serving unofficially as the Chicago liaison through the BlueFringes Tying Bureau. This role consists of offering practical guidance on knotting techniques and tying styles—not a formal position, and one he approaches with humility.
He has hosted several informal Techeiles workshops, including “Techeiles: Color and Controversy” as part of the K.I.N.S. STEMM series in November 2020. There, he went into various opinions, dyeing methods, and tying practices. A follow-up session took place at Kehilat Chovevei Tzion in Skokie in February 2023, offering hands-on tying instructions as well as a live discussion.
Role in Kashrus Community
Between 2008 and early 2024, Rabbi Aronin worked in a supporting capacity at the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc). His contributions included assisting with consumer-oriented kosher content and participating in a virtual Passover seminar.
