Both Dr. Israel Ziderman and R’ Shabtai Rappaport feel that the Radzyner Rebbe was the first in a very long time to reintroduce Techeiles. While his identification was disproven, his tying method wasn’t, and therefore that would be the way to go.
R’ Hershel Schachter invented his method to attempt to satisfy as many Rishonim as possible.
