No Gedolim wear it, so neither should we

While some Charedi leaders withheld endorsement, others—like R. Elyashiv—approved its use for those convinced by evidence. Many rabbis wear it privately. Halacha requires weighing Torah evidence over popularity, especially for mitzvos d’oraita.

This description is quite surprising! While the overwhelming majority of Poskim have not yet studied this sugya in depth, our experience is that most of those who have indeed studied both sides thoroughly are supportive.

Today a number of prominent Gedolim have come out wearing it, making the “no Gedolim” argument moot.
