Sea also refers to sea bed
Item 1
See Isaiah 11:9 and Habbakuk 2:14.
Isaiah 11:9:
They shall neither harm nor destroy on all My holy mount, for the land shall be full of knowledge of the Lord as water covers the sea bed.
Habbakuk 2:14:
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord-as the water covers the seabed.
Footnotes
The Smag says nothing about the body’s color. He writes:
The techeiles spoken about everywhere is wool dyed with the blood of the chilazon, a sea creature whose appearance resembles the sea, whose blood is black like ink, and which is found in the Yam HaMelach.
Appearance resembling the sea bed is also an acceptable interpretation, given that it’s sourced in two places in Tanach.
