Vadai But Not a Psak: What R’ Yisroel Barkin Says He Heard R’ Yisroel Belsky ZT”L Say 1672 941 Rafi Hecht

R’ Yisroel Barkin was asked: “why didn’t R’ Yisroel Belsky tell his kids to start wearing Techeiles bichlal?”

R’ Yisroel Barkin’s answer:

“He didn’t tell anyone to.

He only talked about it when he was asked.

He said clearly that he doesn’t want to give a Psak about it.

He told someone in my presence a few months before he passed away that he holds it’s a Vadai and that it fits perfectly with all the relevant Gemaras.

The recently proposed hypothesis that the reason he didn’t tell people to wear although he held it’s Vadai is because some time later he realized that there are serious questions, is untenable; because he still should have told people to wear before he thought of those alleged questions according to the logic of this hypothesis.

It’s also quite shocking that the presenter of this hypothesis had thousands of opportunities over a span of many years to present his quandary directly to Rav Belsky, but instead he only discussed it after his passing.”
